As you may know, the Programme Jules Verne is a teaching initiative sponsored by the French Ministry of Education and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, and which sends fully trained and certified teachers from France abroad to teach at the elementary and secondary levels in school systems across the world, for a full school year. All public schools in the United States are encouraged to apply to receive a teacher from the Programme Jules Verne.

The teacher’s full salary is provided by the French Ministry of Education. The host school district in the United States is responsible for the teacher’s visa and temporary certification process, plus two roundtrip plane tickets.

The application deadline for this year’s Jules Verne program was April 29th. However, any district or school willing to participate and reciprocate by sending an American teacher to France would get priority and is practically sure to be accepted in the program, so we would be grateful if you could please forward this message to any school, district, or teacher who you think might be interested in this truly exceptional opportunity.
Hoping you will be interested in participating in this very exciting educational initiative,
Best regards,

The Jules Verne program is an exciting teaching initiative sponsored by the French Ministry of Education and the Cultural Services at the French Embassy.
Created in the spirit of the European Erasmus program which promotes cross-cultural exchanges for students of varying nationalities, the Jules Verne program allows fully trained and certified elementary and secondary school teachers from France to live and teach outside of France for a full school year, immersing themselves in the culture, language and civilization of the host country. Through this initiative, teachers can pursue their love of education by accomplishing pedagogical goals in a new professional environment. Through this program, our goal is to encourage international mobility for teachers while at the same time strengthening and developing international and cultural relations between France and the United States. Our hope is to develop reciprocal educational exchanges between school districts in France and in the United States so that American teachers can also have the opportunity to teach in France.
All public schools in the United States are highly encouraged to apply to receive a teacher from the Jules Verne program for the 2011–2012 academic year.
